A county borough with more variety than its size suggests
Bridgend doesn’t fit one description. The town centre itself sits on fairly settled ground, but move a few miles in any direction and the picture changes: industrial estates along the M4 corridor built on land with its own construction history, semi-rural sites toward Pencoed or Maesteg where ground investigation data is often thinner simply because less has been built there before, and coastal-adjacent land nearer Porthcawl where drainage becomes more of a factor. That range is exactly why we don’t work from a single template when a civil engineering enquiry comes in from this area. A structural engineer specifying a retaining structure on an industrial estate plot needs different reinforcement data to one working on a residential scheme on the rural edge of the borough, and we treat those as genuinely separate specifications rather than variations on the same answer.
